FAQ
Where are you based, and do you travel for weddings?
I am a professional wedding and family photographer based in beautiful Calgary, Alberta. However, my bags are permanently packed for destination wedding photography and elopements worldwide! Whether you are planning an intimate Rocky Mountain elopement in Banff, Lake Louise, or Canmore, a beach wedding in Mexico, or an editorial luxury celebration in Europe, I am available to travel globally to capture your unique love story.
How do travel fees work for destination weddings?
Travel logistics should be the least of your worries while planning. For any travel photography or sessions outside of the Calgary area, I keep my pricing completely transparent. I customize my destination wedding packages to bundle all coverage, flights, accommodations, and rental transportation into one flat rate. You simply book your custom package, and I handle all my own travel arrangements with zero hidden expenses later.
What is your photography style?
My style is deeply rooted in capturing genuine emotion, warmth, and laughter. I focus on the fleeting, authentic moments that words can't hold—combining timeless, creative portraiture with a relaxed, documentary-style approach so you can feel completely at ease in front of the camera.
What happens if it rains or snows on our Alberta wedding day?
Weather changes quickly in Alberta, especially near the mountains! I am fully prepared for any elements, equipped with clear umbrellas and an expert eye for indoor backdrops with beautiful lighting. Overcast, moody skies actually create incredibly soft, flattering lighting for romantic wedding portraits, ensuring your gallery looks stunning rain or shine.
Do you offer photography sessions other than weddings?
Yes! Alongside weddings, I specialize in Family & Lifestyle photography. I offer dedicated lifestyle packages as well as exclusive, seasonal Mini Sessions (like spring blossoms and golden fall) that open up a few times per year via my waitlist.
Do I need to book your travel tickets and hotel accommodations for you?
No, you do not have to manage any of my logistics! To keep your wedding planning experience entirely stress-free, I manage and book all of my own flights, stays, and vehicles. The flat-rate travel fee is integrated directly into your upfront photography investment, ensuring an effortless process from start to finish.
How far in advance should we book a Calgary wedding photographer?
Peak wedding season dates in Calgary and the Rocky Mountains fill up rapidly. Most couples lock in their dates 8 to 14 months in advance. If you are coordinating a shorter-notice intimate elopement or a weekday ceremony, please reach out via my contact form to check my current seasonal availability!
We feel awkward during photoshoots. Will you guide us through posing?
Please do not worry—almost everyone feels a little camera-shy at first! My approach to family and lifestyle photography is playful, casual, and completely patient with kids. I avoid stiff, forced poses. Instead, I use gentle prompts and games that evoke genuine smiles, real interactions, and beautiful memories you will cherish forever.
How do your seasonal Calgary photography Mini Sessions work?
My highly sought-after Mini Sessions are seasonal exclusives that open up only a few times per year—capturing spring blossoms, golden fall foliage, or winter holiday magic. Because these limited-edition spots drop and book out incredibly fast, I highly recommend clicking the Join Waitlist button on my home page to secure early booking access.
Do you deliver unedited or RAW images from our session?
To maintain the high-quality, professional standards of my artwork, I do not release unedited or RAW files. Every single image delivered in your online gallery is individually curated, hand-edited, and polished to perfectly match the emotional warmth and timeless style of the Sofi Photography brand.
